Guitar Science 101 moves into the Digital Age:
Recently I have redivised the possible ways to study my methods. With the new technology available I have set up an online school. Most of the time when you study with a teacher you meet him at a music store at a designated time each week. If you have any questions you can leave a message with the music store or ask your questions the following week. That's old and out dated. I have set up several different study programs and I am available to assist you 12-12(EST) Mon.-Sat.

I use Sibelius Guitar Pro 5 and Musedit music notation software. I used Musedit to write my first book so students who have my first book need either Musedit itself or the Musedit Viewer so you can read and listen to the book. If you are going to buy my first book then just download the Musedit Viewer. I have switched to Sibelius for all lessons and books from here on. All three programs allow the student to study music like it was a video game. I have had great success with the students who follow my reccommendation. I also reccommend the Line 6 Tone Port UX2 which is a computer sound card that is recording studio and every amp and guitar effect you could want for under $200.00. Check out the prices of amps and effects these days. With the Tone Port the student can take all the information they learn and put it into practical application. Songwriting. You can't go wrong there.
In order to communicate with me you need an IM service like AIM . If you have a webcam and microphone set up we have even better communictions. No matter what you have, you can see me and hear me and my guitar. The reason I make myself available in between lessons is because most everyone walks out the door and two hours later don't remember a thing from the lesson. This way you can click my IM name and say Yo JJ, What was that lesson all about again? No more waiting until the following week! Click & Ask. 12-12 (EST) Mon.-Sat.
Suggested Practice Habits:
All students who study seriously should practice lessons in order of the transcripts everyday for 1 hour if you want to be awsome in 5 years or 3 or more hours if you want to be awsome in 2-3 months. It's all on you as the student. I can give you all the info in the world but unless you do the work that's involved you'll stay right where your at now. Your choice!
- Practice with the METRONOME!
If you can't do that then you'll never keep up with a drummer!
- Learn the names of the notes on the fretboard. If you don't do this then why you trying to play?Go do something else you really want to do! I have jammed with lots of players who can't tell me what they are playing. A true waste of time! What's funny is some of those guys who can't tell you what the notes are or what key your in have the biggest egos. They should have a test to get into the business just like doctors & lawyers that way all the musical retards would be gone.
